Contributions
Our work is in progress, but it is based on a clear conception
of its potential contributions. Our project is multidisciplinary, at the intersection
of science education, cognitive science, and computer science. Our main goals are
the following:
- To produce comprehensive, though mainly formative, characterization
of an undergraduate science program that is based on an inquiry model of teaching
and learning.
- To demonstrate, through software product development and studies
of software use, how technology can be used to support inquiry-oriented undergraduate
instruction.
- To demonstrate how research in cognition and education can be
integrated into and support the development of educational software.
