Exposure to Wild Animals
All animals encountered on campus not known by you to be a person's pet or farm animal should be treated with great caution. It is important to avoid contact with wild animals, particularly mammals, as they may carry diseases such as rabies. Report any possible exposure to wild animals, including finding a bat in your room, to health services so an evaluation of the risk of disease can be conducted.
The presence of wild animals also means also means there may be hunting nearby. While not allowed on Hampshire property, it may be allowed on abutting farm land and state owned property. State law prohibits hunting on Sunday. Other days of the week the wearing of an item defined as "blaze orange" is advisable if you are on uncertain property. This is particularly important from October through December when the deer hunting season rolls through a sequence of user specific categories; Paraplegic, Bow, Rifle, and muzzle loader weapons.
