After You Arrive: Technology Checklist for New Students

Connect to the wireless network

Wireless coverage is available in all dorms, public spaces, and classrooms. We recommend using the Eduroam network, which works at many campuses worldwide. Please see Connecting to Eduroam at Hampshire for additional details and connection instructions.

The Gromit network as well as residential networks (Merrill, Dakin, etc.) are available for student use. Each device that connects to the networks needs to be registered once by going to https://netreg.hampshire.edu.

Log in to the Intranet

The Intranet contains information specific to the Hampshire community, including announcements, events, lost and found, student employment, etc.

Log in to TheHub

Complete the e-checkin process and check your class schedule, as well as approvals and holds. If a class doesn't appear under My Schedule on TheHub, you're not officially registered. Approvals and holds may block your ability to participate in the add/drop process or make purchases in the bookstore.

Check your Hampshire email

All students are provided an email account for official Hampshire correspondence. Check your email often using webmail or learn more about your email including how to set up an email client, forwarding and change other settings.

Not Sure if an Email Message is a Scam?

When critical announcements are made to the entire campus, they are both posted on the Intranet and emailed directly from the announcement system. You can verify the authenticity of these messages by checking https://intranet.hampshire.edu. You should also know that to change your password or check your email quota we would only ever send you to https://password.hampshire.edu. Just remember that web address & type it into your browser if you ever want to check the status of your account--anywhere else is a scam.

Have a Scam Email you Think You'd Better Share with IT?

Scam emails can be sent to phishing@hampshire.edu, which will bring them to the attention of the system administrators.

Email Account Stop Working?

If your email account suddenly stops working and you can't seem to log in to any IT web services, it may be that you responded to a phishing email and gave away your username and password. When we see an account sending out tons of messages we assume it has been compromised and lock it until we hear from you, so give us a call.

Did you know you have a Google Drive?

We don't use GMail or Google calendar, but everyone at Hampshire has access to Google Drive and many Google tools. Go to drive.hampshire.edu and log in with your Hampshire username and password. If you are already logged into a personal Google account you must first log out of that account before signing into your Hampshire account. Please note that at this time Hampshire does not use Google Mail or Google Calendar, so those features are disabled when logged into your Hampshire Google account.

Learn more about labs and printing

Locate a computer to use and find out how and where to print, copy, or scan on campus.

Protect your OneCard

Your OneCard ID gets you access to your dorm, meals at the dining commons and The Bridge Cafe, library resources, and athletic facilities.

Log in to Moodle

Your professors may post class-related information or require assignment submissions in Moodle, the learning management system.

How can you access your Zoom account?

Everyone at Hampshire has access to a basic Zoom account. Go to zoom.hampshire.edu and click on "Sign in." When directed to a Hampshire sign in page, enter your Hampshire account information. Once signed in you can edit your profile, view and change settings, and schedule meetings. You can also download and sign in to the Zoom App. When signing in to the Zoom App or from zoom.us be sure to select sign in with SSO and enter "hampshire" in the company domain field.  You will then be directed to a Hampshire sign in page.

Trying to Connect something other than a computer to the Hampshire Wireless Network?

Have a game system, smart TV, smart speaker or other device you need to NetReg? Now you can self-register your devices that don't have web browsers.  See https://www.hampshire.edu/it/netreg-self-registration for details.

Need help with all the acronyms?

Check out Decoding Hampshire to help translate from Hampspeak to English.

Need IT Help?

The Student Diagnostic Center (SDC) will diagnose and often repair computer problems free of cost--you pay only for any parts. Watch for an announcement with the opening date and hours. Given the special circumstances this year the SDC will be operating by appointment only.  You can reach the Student Diagnostic Center at sdc@hampshire.edu.

You can also get help with password problems, email issues, and lots of other things by contacting the IT Help Desk. The IT Help Desk is staffed M-F from 8:30 a.m. - Noon and 1 - 4 p.m. If you need immediate assistance give a call to 413-559-5418; for non-emergencies use helpdesk@hampshire.edu. If we don't know the answer to your question we'll do our best to figure out who does.
