Chief Diversity Officer to Serve as the Chair of the Board for Lighthouse Holyoke

Lighthouse Holyoke is a newly established independent school offering personalized education for area teens with self-designed, individual curriculums.  Lighthouse was founded by Hampshire alum Josiah Litant 00F and Catherine Gobron.

“The scope and mission of Lighthouse, offering individualized education for teens, is something that is much needed in our community,” Sutton-Fernandez says. “For too long, we’ve underserved too many of our students.”

Sutton-Fernandez has also been invited to serve on the Human Rights Advisory Committee by Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse. The purpose of the committee is to “ensure that issues of basic human rights will be brought to the fore and made a central priority” of Morse’s administration, according to an official release.

“I have a personal interest in the Human Rights Advisory Committee because I live in Holyoke,” Sutton-Fernandez says. “This is an opportunity to offer suggestions to the Mayor to make Holyoke a more inclusive, inviting city for all.”

Sutton-Fernandez was also named to the Board of Directors for the United Way of the Pioneer Valley in October.
