Documentary Coedited by Joe Fenstermaker 05F Premiers at 2023 Tribeca Film Festival
Hampshire College alum Joe Fenstermaker 05F coedited the feature-length documentary, Rather, about famed TV journalist Dan Rather. The film was first screened on June 9 at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Directed by Frank Marshall, the film, which focuses on the history of broadcast journalism in the U.S. through the lens of the former CBS news anchor, has been called “a long-overdue tribute to an icon.” Considered one of the most influential journalists of all time — and a Twitter star in his 90s — Dan Rather has reported on many pivotal political moments, among them the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, JFK’s assassination, Watergate, and the fall of the Berlin Wall during his 60+ year career.
Fenstermaker is an Emmy award-winning documentary film editor based in Los Angeles. Previous to his work on Rather, he edited Life Centered: The Helen Jean Taylor Story (PBS), Finding Home: A Foster Youth Story (PBS), and Alive (EPIX), among others. He is supervising editor at the innovative production studio, Wavelength Productions.
