Feb. 27: Announcement of the new Concentration in Psychoanalytic Studies at Hampshire College

The new Concentration in Psychoanalytic Studies at Hampshire College will be announced on Thursday, February 27, at an event held at the National Yiddish Book Center from 4 to 6 p.m. All are welcome. A reception will follow the program.

Hampshire's Concentration in Psychoanalytic Studies is unique within an undergraduate program. It offers students opportunities early in their education to explore psychoanalysis in relation to society and culture.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Marilyn Charles of the Austen Riggs Center, talking on "The Future of Psychoanalysis and the Next Generation." A panel of Hampshire students and alumni will respond.

Faculty from across the College are affiliated with Hampshire's Concentration in Psychoanalytic Studies, including Professor of Psychoanalysis and Clinical Psychology Annie Rogers (Dean of Critical Social Inquiry), Associate Professor of Theatre Djola Branner (Dean of Interdisciplinary Arts), Professor of Cultural Studies Eva Rueschmann (Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty), Professor of Comparative Literature Jeff Wallen (Dean of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies), Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology Lourdes Mattei, Professor of Literature and Clinical Theory Mary Russo, Associate Professor of Philosophy Monique Roelofs, and Professor of Childhood Studies Rachel Conrad.
