Hampshire College Center for Design is a Laboratory for Making and Learning

Classes, clubs, and individuals make jewelry, musical instruments, armor, leather sculpture, glassware, and anything they can imagine. "Really, any material you would like to work with, we can figure out a way to help you," says Facility Coordinator and Hampshire alum Mary Kate Clearly 12F.

Open to all skill levels, the Center for Design provides students with the tools, training, and support to bring their creative visions to life. Whether you’re prototyping, building, or experimenting, this space is a laboratory for making and learning.

“A lot of college experience is so much about writing papers and being theoretical,” says Terra Fletcher 09F. “The Center for Design is where you go to walk away with a tangible manifestation of your idea.”
