Hampshire College Professor Jina Fast on Creating a Liberatory Education
SHIFT Assistant Professor of Applied Ethics and the Common Good Jina Fast shares her belief that education can reveal and elevate our potential as individuals and communities.
She explains that seeing students as whole human beings with their own ideas and needs is central to her teaching practice.
“Education can serve really high purposes,” says Fast. “In the right places and spaces with the ability to be reflective and critical in our reflection and transformative in our actions, it can bring us together in community and can also enable a recognition and realization of the possibilities of individual human beings and collaborative processes of human connection and community.”
