Hampshire College Professor Sarah E. Jenkins on Pushing the Boundaries of Animation
Sarah E. Jenkins, assistant professor of animation, creative arts, and visual culture, expresses their passion for introducing animation to students with existing art practices in different disciplines: “Animation is an art for everyone, truly.”
Jenkins is grateful to be at Hampshire, an innovative institution, where she is encouraged to continue exploring making art, rather than being boxed into a narrow field.
“Hampshire is one of the only places that I found that doesn't expect me to fit into a very strict curriculum,” says Jenkins. “They really want me to bring my own special knowledge, expertise, ideas, and experiments to campus. The institution itself is an experimenting institution and of course it does make sense that it would be such a wonderful fit for me to bring a more experimental way of thinking about making art to the school.”
