May 16: A Celebration of Board Chair Sigmund Roos 73F

Hampshire College will honor outgoing board chair Sigmund Roos 73F on May 16. He has served on the board of trustees for 17 years, longer than any other person, and is the first alum to chair the board.

Everyone is invited to attend this celebration of appreciation for the support and involvement over so many years by Sig Roos and Ruth Rohde 75S.

At 2:30 p.m., a "Rehamping the Barn" student presentation and showcase will be held in the Adele Simmons Hall auditorium.

At 4:30 p.m., a groundbreaking will be held at the future site of the Roos-Rohde House, on the lawn between Cole Science Center and the Lemelson Center.

Innumerable contributions by Roos and Rohde—of time, energy, wisdom, and financial support—have spanned much of the College's history and are indelibly linked to Hampshire's success today and promise for the future.

The Rehamping the Barn project is a student design project that involves repurposing and relocating a building from the president's house onto campus. It will serve as a gathering space for studying, meetings, and socializing, and is being named in honor of Roos and Rohde.
