OPRA's Karen Warren Selected to Give 2014 Kurt Hahn Address
Hampshire College Outdoor Programs and Recreational Athletics (OPRA) instructor Karen Warren will give the 2014 Kurt Hahn Address at the 42nd Annual International Association for Experiential Education (AEE) Conference in October.
Selection for the Kurt Hahn Address is the AEE's highest award. It recognizes Warren for innovative programming and numerous publications and presentations in the United States and beyond.
"It is thrilling and humbling to be recognized by the AEE," Warren said. "I stand in the company of former recipients who have been mentors and inspirational figures for me in my career."
Warren teaches classes in experiential education theory, outdoor leadership, wilderness studies, and gender studies in the outdoors and social justice. Warren said her favorite part of working at Hampshire is "working with students who are creative, innovative, willing to take risks, and to make a difference in the world. " She has worked for Hampshire College since 1983.
