Student Researches Ancient Greek Mythology Examining Past and Present Through Tiresias
For their Div III, recent grad Basil Perkins 21F studied Tiresias, the trans prophet from ancient Greek/Roman mythology.
"The energy here is so palpable," says Basil. "We care so much about what we study, and it's contagious. It's something that I'm going to take to every single other place that I go for the rest of my life."
At Hampshire College, every student completes a "Div III," a yearlong, advanced study project, similar to a master’s thesis. Basil studied Tiresias as a means of finding kinship connections with the ancient world and challenging empire in the present.
