Students Plan 7th Annual Five College Queer Gender and Sexuality Conference
The Queer Conference strives to provide a safer space for engaging, learning, and fostering community with a wide range of workshops, panels, performances, and lectures by student leaders, Five College faculty and staff, off-campus educators, and nationally-known performers and speakers. The conference takes place Friday March 4th & 5th 2016 at Hampshire College
The Conference is student-led, and aims to offer an accountable and supportive environment to further explore a wide range of topics and their intersections, such as race, genders, sexualities, ability, class, kink, survival strategies, and many more, in a specifically queer context.
This year's featured artists and speakers include: Sasha Alexander, Director of Membership for the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, Olympia Perez, Content Director of Black Trans Media, and J Mase III, a black/trans/queer poet/educator.
During each of our workshop sessions there will be closed Queer People of Color (QPOC) sessions for folks to choose what best fits their needs throughout the weekend. These sessions will give participants space to build community amongst black and brown LGBTQ folks, bring new tools and perspectives to bring back to their homes, and further empower QPOC.
