Chikoma Kazunga 88S
Chikoma Kazunga after completing his B.A. at Hampshire in environmental chemistry, Kazunga went on to earn a Ph.D. in environmental sciences and engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study how constructed wetlands could be used to clean up municipal and industrial wastewaters. However, he ended up doing my research on soil and groundwater remediation of former superfund sites for a company in Texas. A career change took him to South Africa, where he immersed in the emerging renewable energy industry in 2010, mainly in solar PV.
He currently lives in Zambia and works for a Kenyan company that manufactures improved wood and charcoal cookstoves. He’s also exploring opportunities for the deployment of green hydrogen in southern Africa as well as how to integrate battery energy storage systems into the grid to maximize renewable energy. He is also very interested in sustainable agriculture, decarbonization, sustainable fish farming, and green chemistry.
