Doug Plotkin 80F
Doug Plotkin has been a management consultant at various top tier firms including IBM, PA Consulting, and Deloitte Consulting for some 30 years, focusing on IT Strategy and complex contract negotiations. After this long stint of traveling 80% of the time, landing in three different cities a week and frequently forgetting where he was he was when he woke up in the morning, he is now looking forward to new adventures closer to home most days, but certainly willing to travel to London, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv, and the like.
Doug came to Hampshire in the fall of 1980 and, on his first day, met his mod-mate Andrea 78F while moving into Greenwich Mod 1 (they married eventually and have three children, none of whom were Hampshire material). The next day, he met Herb Bernstein in Quantum Mechanics for the Myriad, and was instantly convinced to take up physics. These were two pretty big, life changing days; that's what Hampshire can do for its students, and why it is so important it continues to thrive. Doug studied more physics, getting a master's degree at UT Austin, and then went to Wharton for an M.B.A. and a career advising numerous commercial and some governmental organizations. He is delighted to join the Alumni Advisory Group.
