Joe Cecchi

Vegetable Production Manager

A person in a green “Sage” hoodie stands in a barn holding a cantaloupe and garlic, surrounded by farm gear on a red trailer.

Joe (he/him/his) grew up working on an old-fashioned veggie farm in Feeding Hills alongside his brother and cousins. Joe found himself even more deeply immersed in the rich agricultural tradition of the Valley after graduating from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass Amherst and worked on several organic farms before finding his way to Hampshire College.

He loves all things farming and loves talking with folks with all levels of farm experience. Joe loves the community aspect of agriculture and is particularly interested in the intersection of farming and food sovereignty. He is excited to share the joys and hard work that encompass working on a farm with students from all disciplines.

Garlic and tomatoes are probably his favorite crops to grow, and he loves to can and dehydrate as many tomatoes as possible so that he can make pizza and pasta all winter long. When Joe isn't on the farm, he can be found on a bike, in a river or working on his house in Easthampton with his partner and cats.
