FAQ: For Incoming Students
Forms and Registration

Your seven digit student ID number will appear next to your name when you log in to TheHub. When you receive your bill, it is also listed as your account number. To access this information, click on Account Statement/Make a Payment under the Financial Info section of the Students menu on TheHub.

Course registration for incoming first year students begins on January 22. You should register for three or four academic courses you are interested in taking in your first semester primarily at the 100-level (Example: HACU-0101). Academic courses are labeled CS, CSI, HACU, IA and NS. You may, in addition to your academic courses, register for OPRA courses (Outdoors Program Recreational Activities). You will log in and register for courses on thehub.hampshire.edu
Your time to begin registering for courses will be posted on thehub.hampshire.edu in mid-January under the link called “approvals and holds.”
Additional notes:
- If a course is full, you can add your name to the waitlist. The waitlist will start running at the beginning of course add/drop on January 24. If you are on a waitlist, be sure to check your email several times a day for notification of a space and follow the instructions to accept the seat.

Registration for Spring entrants, which starts on January 22, will continue through the course add/drop period. If you have questions, contact Central Records staff for assistance. Email them at centralrecords@hampshire.edu.

You can view your course schedule under "my class schedule" and under "courses and evaluations." Both these links appear on your student menu.

Housing assignments will be emailed to your Hampshire email address by July 3 for the fall semester and by January 14 for the spring semester.

Shortly before your arrival on campus, your advisor's name will be listed on TheHub. You will have a scheduled appointment to meet your advisor during orientation, and the meeting time will also be listed. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to CASA or Central Records with any questions or concerns.

Yes, you can ship things to your campus mailbox beginning two weeks prior to your arrival, but please be sure to allow enough shipping time for any important items to arrive on campus. You may want to pack and bring with you things that you will need right away, such as sheets, a pillow, a towel, clothes, and toiletries. Your post office box number will be viewable on TheHub. (See next question for mailing format).

Generally, no. Some families will come the day before and stay over in a hotel so they can get an early start on move-in day. If you are in a situation that truly requires you to arrive early (our general guidelines include travel from the west coast or farther, and family hardships), please email housing@hamsphire.edu.

Family orientation is your opportunity to learn more about Hampshire from key faculty and staff. This optional informational event is designed to give families a deeper understanding of Hampshire and its resources. Please register by Monday, January 17.

The College strongly encourages you to bring a computer to campus. Laptops are recommended for flexibility and convenience and can be used in your residence and around campus. Read more here.

You will be busy, so you shouldn't make other plans during orientation. Your days start early and end after dinner (with activities in the evenings). Of course the days are fun, but there is definitely a lot going on. We know that everything can be a little overwhelming, and we take that into account when planning and scheduling activities. We make sure to include down time each day, so you have space to breathe, relax, and get situated.
